Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Saturday hailed the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spearheading green and sustainable public transport across the country, following the virtual flagging off of 25 electric buses for Chandigarh under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme.
Tandon attended the flag-off ceremony along with Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria and termed the introduction of electric buses as a “historic and invaluable gift” to the people of Chandigarh.

He said the induction of electric buses will help provide a pollution-free environment and significantly improve the quality of public transport. He expressed happiness that 100 electric buses will soon be put into service and added that the entire fleet in this phase is expected to be commissioned by May 2026.
Tandon extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Governor for their commitment to transforming Chandigarh into a model city for clean and eco-friendly mobility. He said the initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s farsighted vision of promoting green transport and ensuring sustainable urban development.
On the occasion, Tandon also raised the issue of re-induction of Transport Department employees with the Administrator, stating that with the expansion of electric bus services, there is renewed hope for their re-induction. He expressed confidence that their concerns would be addressed sympathetically.
He said Chandigarh is moving steadily towards becoming a clean, green and modern city under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
